I love supermarkets

I am not obsessed with food like some of my friends. I don't research for the best restaurants and try them out whenever I can. Dining to me is more about sharing some quiet and quality time with someone I want to see or catch up with.

But I love going to supermarkets, the big ones especially.

I love strolling very slowly in a big supermarket surrounded by fresh produce.

I love reading the labels carefully like I'm reading a book and try to understand the characters.

I love the bakery shop and I always wonder about the many kinds of bread produced by flour.

I love smelling the banana, touching the big round oranges, and looking at the strawberries of bright red colour.

I love the big, fat mushrooms that come in different colours, and thinking how they can make some nice omelettes for breakfast in the morning.

I love looking at the leafy vegetables, the cute baby bak choy and the clean posh Japanese leek. Green is such a soothing colour for the eyes.

I love checking out every single kind of funny colourful food packages in the Japanese section, and trying to read the characters.

And I have to buy some noodles and then find out I already have some when I get home. It happens every single time!

And whenever I pass by a certain corner, a woman will always stop me and ask me to buy her product. I never seem to be able to avoid her even though I have tried - every time.

It is always a relaxing, happy trip to the supermarket on Sunday.

p.s. When I visit a nice big supermarket, I can't help but remember the one in Canada. It's 10 times bigger, with fresher food, and I would go with my family. It's like an old family activity that stays in my mind.
